[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Naver announced on Thursday the closure of its "Yojeumyeogipan" service, previously offered in its content tab. The company aims to strengthen its artificial intelligence (AI) and Place services while phasing out less-demanded offerings as part of a broader platform overhaul.

The "Yojeumyeogipan" service, launched in 2023 as an upgraded version of the "Mwohaji" tab, will no longer be available starting January 17. The service utilized data from Naver Place and Maps to provide personalized recommendations. However, Naver has decided to concentrate on its Place service, which offers detailed information about businesses and establishments based on location data.

This move aligns with Naver's ongoing strategy to adapt to shifts in user demand by consolidating and enhancing its core services:

Naver Post Service Closure: The mobile content platform, launched in 2013, will end on April 30, 2024. Users can migrate their content to Naver Blog until April 14, ensuring the continuity of their content ecosystem while focusing on strengthening the blog platform.

'Modoo' Service Closure: The homepage-building tool, introduced in 2015 during the transition to mobile, will shut down on June 26, 2024. Naver is encouraging users to transition to its "Smart Place" service, which offers more versatile tools tailored to the mobile environment.

By discontinuing underutilized services, Naver is positioning itself to prioritize growth areas such as AI and location-based platforms.
