[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] SK Hynix's high-bandwidth memory (HBM) fifth-generation products will be mass-produced in earnest.
SK Hynix announced on the 19th that it will mass-produce HBM3E, a new memory product for ultra-high-performance artificial intelligence (AI), for the first time in the world and start supplying products from the end of March.
HBM3E will be supplied to NVIDIA and will be installed in NVIDIA's next-generation graphics processing unit (GPU).
"We will be the first to supply HBM3Es with the highest DRAM performance to customers after HBM3," SK Hynix said. "We will continue to mass-produce HBM3E and continue our competitive edge in the AI memory market."
In particular, SK Hynix emphasized that HBM3E has the world's best performance in all areas required for AI memory, including speed and heat control.
HBM3E processes up to 1.18TB (terabytes) of data per second, which is more than 230 FHD (Full-HD) movies (5GB) in a second.
SK Hynix applied the 'Advanced MR-MUF' process to its new products to improve heat emission performance by 10% compared to the previous generation.
