[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] OCI, a key materials company, has been selected as the first domestic manufacturer to supply phosphoric acid to SK Hynix for semiconductor production. After passing SK Hynix's rigorous quality tests, OCI received approval to supply semiconductor-grade phosphoric acid and held a ceremony on August 21 at its Gunsan plant to mark the first shipment.
The phosphoric acid supplied by OCI is a critical material used in the etching process of semiconductor wafers. OCI's product is a versatile material used across all semiconductor processes, including DRAM, NAND flash, and foundry operations. With the growth of HBM and a recovery in the semiconductor market, demand for this material is expected to rise steadily.
Since entering the semiconductor phosphoric acid market in 2007, OCI has built an annual production capacity of 25,000 tons. Over the past 17 years, the company has consistently supplied phosphoric acid to major domestic semiconductor companies such as Samsung Electronics, SK Key Foundry, and DB HiTek, maintaining its position as the market leader in South Korea. With SK Hynix now added as a customer, OCI has become the only company to supply phosphoric acid to all domestic semiconductor manufacturers.
