[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Hyundai Steel announced on July 3 that it has signed a Strategic Framework Agreement (SFA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS) at Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle on July 1. The agreement outlines Hyundai Steel’s plan to supply low-carbon steel products to AWS’s new data centers across the Asia-Pacific region.
AWS, a subsidiary of Amazon, provides cloud computing services including servers and storage solutions for individuals and organizations.
As part of the collaboration, Hyundai Steel is already supplying eco-friendly H-beams to AWS’s ongoing data center project in Incheon, South Korea. Building on this momentum, Hyundai Steel plans to migrate key business operations such as production management and data analytics to AWS’s cloud infrastructure. The move is aimed at accelerating the company’s enterprise-wide digital transformation and building an AI-based smart factory ecosystem.
This partnership further strengthens the growing collaboration between Hyundai Motor Group and Amazon. Since last year, new Hyundai vehicles have been available for purchase on Amazon.com in the U.S., and Amazon’s AI voice assistant Alexa has been integrated into new Hyundai and Kia models.
