[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Prosecutors have requested a supplementary investigation into lawyer Lee, who was charged with defamation for claiming that SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won spent over KRW 100 billion on his partner.

According to legal sources on December 3, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Criminal Division 5 recently asked the Seoul Seocho Police Station to conduct additional investigations into the alleged dissemination of false information by Lee.

Lee is the legal representative of Noh So-young, director of the Art Center Nabi and Chey’s estranged wife in their divorce proceedings.

In November 2022, during a damages lawsuit filed by Noh against Kim Hee-young, director of the T&C Foundation and Chey’s partner, Lee told reporters that "Chey spent more than KRW 100 billion on Kim since 2015," leading Chey to file a defamation complaint.

The police, having found grounds for the charges, referred the case to prosecutors. However, the prosecution deemed further investigation necessary to verify the basis of Lee's statements.
