Companies must make efforts to secure competitive AI and raise global awareness, and government development measures and support are urgently needed." It was announced on the 17th.

"Based on the 'AI Index 2024' report published by Stanford University's Human-centered AI Research Institute (HAI), there have been stories that there is no AI foundation model (basic model) in Korea," he said on his personal social network (SNS). "When we examined why these results came out, a large number of major AI models around the world are missing from the report."

According to the report, the number of AI patents per 100,000 people in Korea as of 2022 was 10.26, the largest among the surveyed countries. However, last year, no foundation models have been developed and AI talents are being leaked abroad, raising concerns that Korea may be lagging far behind the AI industry. Naver unveiled its new AI model, HyperClover X, in August last year, which upgraded its existing AI model.

"While Naver's AI model was mentioned in 2023, when HAI directly investigated, this time, the results seem to have been made by using a paper written by the HAI Group," he analyzed. "We are fighting at the forefront of the battlefield without gunfire, and it is true that we are losing strength when this happens," he said. "It is still our job to overcome this and move forward."

"As it is really important to secure AI sovereignty, companies should invest more strongly to secure competitive AI and make efforts to raise global awareness," he said. "We hope that the government will provide much stronger support than now."
