[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] No So-young, the director of Art Center Nabi, announced that she will not appeal the divorce lawsuit against Chey Tae-won, the chairman of SK Group. However, Chey Tae-won's side submitted an appeal on the 20th, meaning their divorce will now await the final decision of the Supreme Court.
Representing No, attorney Lee Sang-won from PyeongAn Law Firm stated on the 21st, "While there are aspects that are regrettable, based on a thorough consideration of the facts and the law, we have decided not to appeal the second-instance ruling."
On the other hand, Chey's side filed an appeal with the Seoul High Court's Family Affairs Division 2 (headed by Chief Judge Kim Si-cheol, Kim Ok-gon, and Lee Dong-hyun) the previous day, citing "fatal errors" in the second-instance verdict. Chey's team argued there were flaws in the valuation forming the basis of the property division decision.
The court partially accepted Chey's objections, adjusting the share price from 100 won per share in May 1998 to 1,000 won per share. However, the order to divide assets worth 13.808 trillion won was upheld.
Chey Tae-won married No So-young in 1988 but filed for divorce mediation in July 2017. After failed negotiations due to No's opposition, he filed for divorce in February 2020.
