[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] POSCO is facing controversy after posting a job listing for experienced new hires, stating that their prior work experience will not be acknowledged upon joining.
On Tuesday, POSCO announced that it is recruiting production technology-based new employees with less than five years of experience in manufacturing production roles.
However, despite the applicants having prior experience, their previous work history from other companies will not be recognized once they are hired.
This has led to criticism, with some accusing POSCO of hiring "experienced new hires" in order to avoid recognizing their experience and paying them lower wages.
In response, POSCO clarified that the recruitment program was specifically designed for both new and experienced employees. The company explained that while new employees undergo an internship period, experienced new hires will not have this internship, providing them with an advantage. POSCO also mentioned that the starting salary for production roles, including performance bonuses and allowances, is around 74 million KRW, and employees will receive free accommodation in company dormitories for five years.
