[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] The union representing subsidiaries of Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on September 9 that it plans to launch a full-scale strike from September 13 to 18, demanding improvements in working conditions.
Ahead of the full strike, the union conducted two warning strikes on July 30 and August 13. These involved 900 to 1,000 workers from two of the three subsidiaries, Incheon Airport Facilities Management Co. and Incheon Airport Operation Services Co., including parking attendants, cleaning staff, power plant workers, boarding bridge operators, and IT workers.
The union is pushing for a shift from the current 3-shift system to a 4-shift system, similar to the parent company, Incheon International Airport Corporation. Other demands include additional staffing for the expansion of Terminal 2, set to open by the end of the year, a new monthly transportation allowance of 260,000 KRW, an annual skill-based pay increase of 35,000 KRW, and wage increases based on the contract rate between the parent company and subsidiaries.
