[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Sales of Huawei, China's largest IT company, surpassed 700 billion yuan (about 128 trillion won) again. Huawei's influence is growing, with iPhone sales falling as Huawei's 5G smartphone has become a sensation in China.
Huawei's sales reached a record high of 891.4 billion yuan (about 162 trillion won) in 2020, but it shrank by about 29% to 636.9 billion yuan in 2021 due to all-out U.S. sanctions. It rebounded slightly (0.8%) to 642.3 billion yuan in 2022, growing more than 9% last year and surpassing 700 billion yuan again.
Meanwhile, Huawei's premium smartphone sales surged after launching its 5G smartphone 'Mate 60 Pro' at the end of August last year. Apple's iPhone sales in China plunged 24 percent on-year in the first six weeks of this year, while Huawei's sales rose 64 percent, showing "Growth alone," according to Counterpoint Research.
