[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Hundreds of thousands of Starbucks mugs will be recalled in the United States.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission said on the 21st that it will recall Starbucks mugs after receiving reports that some users suffered burns or lacerations.

Subject to the recall are ceramic mugs included in the four Starbucks Holiday gift sets. This mug is made by Swiss food company Nestle. During the Christmas season, it was mainly sold online from November last year to January this year.

It was available offline at Wal-Mart, Target (US discount mart chain), and Nexcom, not Starbucks stores. Prices were sold at $ 10, $ 13 and $ 20, depending on size (capacity) or online and offline stores.

The committee explained the reason for the recall, saying that if the mug is heated in the microwave or filled with hot liquid, it could overheat or break, resulting in burns and lacerations.

So far, a total of 12 cases have been filed with the mug. Nine of them had severe burns and blisters on the back of their fingers and one finger wound.

Consumers should immediately stop using mugs and return them to their purchases or contact Nestle USA to get a full refund, the product safety committee said.

If you have a product in question, you can apply for a recall on the Nestle USA website even if you do not have proof of purchase, such as receipts. You can get a refund by attaching a mug photo or an identification code attached at the bottom of the product.
