SK Ocean Plant invests 1.2 trillion won in offshore wind power production facilities

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] On the 25th, SK Oceanplant announced that it will invest 1.1153 trillion won to establish a specialized production plant for floating offshore wind substructures.
This investment is aimed at responding to the rapid growth of the global offshore wind market. The designated location for the new plant is in the Yangchon and Yongjeong areas of Donghae-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, with the investment set to be completed by December 2026.
SK Oceanplant has been making significant strides in the domestic and international offshore wind substructure markets. The company will supply all 38 jacket substructures for generators in Anma Offshore Wind Farm, South Korea's first large-scale offshore wind farm. These offshore wind substructures consist of jackets and pin piles, with jackets reaching heights of up to 74 meters and weights of up to 1850 tons.
Internationally, SK Oceanplant has been participating in Taiwan's offshore wind farm projects since 2019. To date, they have manufactured and delivered approximately 200 substructures, capturing a 44% market share in Taiwan's offshore wind substructure market.
