Hyundai and Kia's Eco-Friendly Vehicle Sales Surpass 20% in U.S. for the First Time

[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Last year, the proportion of eco-friendly vehicle sales by Hyundai Motor and Kia in the U.S. exceeded 20% for the first time. Hybrid SUV models such as the Tucson, Sportage, and Santa Fe, along with flagship electric vehicles like the IONIQ 5 and EV9, achieved record-breaking sales.
According to Hyundai Motor Group on Tuesday, Hyundai Motor (including Genesis) and Kia sold a combined total of 1,708,293 vehicles in the U.S. in 2024. This marks an all-time high, surpassing the previous record of 1,652,821 units set in 2023.
Hyundai Motor and Kia, along with the premium Genesis brand, also set individual records. Genesis sold 75,003 units in the U.S. last year, achieving its highest annual sales ever.
Eco-friendly vehicles, including hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), electric vehicles (EVs), and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), accounted for 346,441 units, representing 20.3% of total sales. This is the first time the annual share of eco-friendly vehicles has surpassed 20%. By category, sales were as follows: 222,486 HEVs, 123,861 EVs, and 94 FCEVs.
