[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] E-Mart is going to restructure its workforce on a large scale. It is the first step for Chairman Chung Yong-jin to take office.
An official familiar with E-Mart's internal situation on the 21st said, "We will receive applications for voluntary retirement as early as late March or early April," adding, "It will be done for some store workers."

E-Mart decided to close its Pentaport and Sangbong branches in Cheonan this year and started voluntary retirement for its workers.
The voluntary retirement was reported to all non-profitable branches. E-Mart posted its first consolidated deficit of 46.9 billion won last year.
Amid a heightened sense of crisis at E-Mart, the recent promotion of Vice Chairman Chung Yong-jin to chairman seems to be a decision aimed at reducing high-intensity costs.
