KB Kookmin Bank Faces Financial Scandal Involving 13.6 Billion KRW in Commercial Property Loans

[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] KB Kookmin Bank has confirmed a financial scandal involving over 13.6 billion KRW. The bank announced on the 30th that the scandal was the result of embezzlement, amounting to 13.56 billion KRW.
The incident occurred between April of last year and the end of November this year, and it was uncovered during a regular inspection by the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS).
The potential loss amount is yet to be determined, but the collateral for the loan amounts to 10.71 billion KRW.
A KB Kookmin Bank representative explained that during the handling of commercial property loans, loans were issued to stakeholders of the development company rather than the actual buyers.
