[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] NCSoft, led by co-CEOs Kim Taek-jin and Park Byung-moo, has announced an initial investment in Moon Rover Games, a Swedish game development startup. The total investment amounts to $3.5 million (approximately 4.8 billion KRW). This investment marks the beginning of NCSoft’s plans to expand its portfolio through further investments.
Moon Rover Games, founded in 2022 in Stockholm, Sweden, is a game development studio composed entirely of veterans from EA DICE. The founding members have contributed to renowned shooter games such as the "Battlefield" series, "Far Cry," and "Tom Clancy’s The Division."
The studio is currently working on a new IP, "Project Aldous," a cooperative FPS game for PC and consoles.
NCSoft’s investment in Moon Rover Games is part of a seed round, with the company participating exclusively in this round. NCSoft plans to collaborate closely with Moon Rover Games from its early stages and to establish a long-term partnership. Discussions are underway for additional investments and publishing rights based on the project's progress.
