[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] According to the gaming industry on the 10th, NCSoft's co-CEO, Byung-Moo Park, held an online briefing for all employees this afternoon to share directions on voluntary resignations and subsidiary spin-offs.
Park stated, "During the rapid growth phase, our organization and workforce expanded significantly, but after the pandemic, the entire gaming industry has entered a phase of stagnant growth," adding, "There is strong pressure from shareholders regarding personnel and fixed expenses."
He further explained, "Compared to similar industries, NCSoft has a relatively large workforce and a high concentration of headquarters," stating, "Having most functions centralized at headquarters poses limitations on efficient and prompt decision-making."
Additionally, Park mentioned, "We are actively considering and preparing for the option of spinning off certain functions of the organization by the end of this year to foster growth."
Simultaneously, he also announced plans to conclude the voluntary resignation program by the end of this month, a program reportedly in progress recently.
Previously, NCSoft underwent a large-scale corporate restructuring at the end of last year, terminating contracts for approximately 20% of all executives.
Hyun-Beom Koo, Chief Operating Officer (COO), mentioned that through spin-offs and voluntary resignations, they aim to reduce the workforce at headquarters to around the mid-4,000s. According to the annual report, NCSoft had a total of 5,023 employees as of December last year.
Park expressed his apologies to the employees for the management deterioration and the implementation of voluntary resignations.
