[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Daum has been found to have surrendered its third-place position in the domestic search market to Microsoft's Bing.
According to Internet Trend data on July 17, during the period of July 1-15, Naver held the top spot with a market share of 56.0%. Google followed in second place with 35.55%.
While Naver and Google maintained their strong positions at first and second place, the rankings at third and fourth place swapped. During this period, Bing achieved an average market share of 3.66%, surpassing Daum, which held 3.44%.
In the first half of this year (January to June), Daum averaged a market share of 4.19%, compared to Bing's 2.71%. However, the situation has changed in July.
Daum's ongoing decline in search market share has led to its drop to fourth place, a trend that was anticipated. Particularly noteworthy is that Naver, Google, and Bing have all implemented generative AI search capabilities, whereas Daum has been criticized for lagging behind in AI integration.
