[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Samyang Foods has introduced two types of its Buldak Tteokbokki — Original and Carbonara — to Walmart stores in the United States.

According to Samyang Foods on the 25th, Walmart, the largest discount retailer in the U.S., had already completed nationwide distribution of Buldak Ramen across its stores last year.

The company explained that the growing interest in K-food, such as kimbap and tteokbokki, and the continued popularity of Buldak Ramen in the U.S. led to the inclusion of Buldak Tteokbokki in Walmart’s product lineup.

Originally launched in Korea in 2018, Buldak Tteokbokki is now exported to over 60 countries. It features a spicy yet savory sauce made with the iconic Buldak Sauce. Designed for convenience, it is a shelf-stable product that can be easily prepared in a microwave, making it appealing to international consumers unfamiliar with cooking tteokbokki.

Samyang Foods plans to use this Walmart entry as a springboard to further cater to local tastes. The company aims to boost awareness and sales of Buldak Tteokbokki in the U.S. by expanding its presence across major distribution channels.
