Record Number of Business Closures in 2023, Highest Since 2006

[Alpha Biz= Kim Sangjin] According to a report titled "Characteristics of Recent Business Closures and Implications," released by the Korea Employers Federation (KEF) on December 26, the number of business closures in 2023 reached 986,000, the highest since the statistics began in 2006.
The closure rate was particularly high in sectors with many small businesses, such as the food service industry (16.2%) and retail industry (15.9%).
