[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] GS E&C has secured major projects both domestically and internationally, with contracts totaling approximately 1.2 trillion KRW as the year-end approaches.
On November 11, GS E&C announced that it had won a 714.2 billion KRW contract to build a hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) plant in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province. This eco-friendly facility will process waste cooking oil and palm oil by-products to produce bio-jet fuel, biodiesel, and bio-naphtha.
Under this project, GS E&C will construct the facility within LG Chem’s Daesan plant, with an annual production capacity of 340,000 tons. The project is expected to take 32 months to complete, starting from the groundbreaking. The bio-naphtha produced will serve as a primary feedstock for ethylene, and the bio-jet fuel, as sustainable aviation fuel, will be exported overseas.
