[Alpha Biz= Kim Sangjin] Huawei, China's largest telecommunications equipment company, has reported a 22% increase in revenue last year, reaching the second-largest revenue in its history despite U.S. sanctions.
According to reports from the Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP) on Thursday, Huawei Chairman Liang Hua stated at a forum in Guangzhou the previous day that the company’s revenue for last year exceeded 860 billion yuan.
This represents a 22% increase compared to last year’s revenue of 704.2 billion yuan. SCMP noted that this is the second-largest revenue after the record high of 891 billion yuan in 2020, signaling Huawei’s resilience despite U.S. sanctions.
Liang attributed the company’s strong performance to the growth of its consumer business, including smartphones and wearable devices, as well as its smart car solutions business, adding that "Huawei’s overall operations in 2024 met expectations." However, he did not disclose figures related to operating profit or other profitability aspects.
