[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Samsung SDS issued a total of 334 bids for semiconductor process control and related systems. However, certain bidders colluded in advance regarding the winning bidders and bidding prices. As a result, these companies are now facing government sanctions.

The Fair Trade Commission announced on the 2nd that it will impose corrective orders and fines totaling 104.59 billion won on 12 companies engaged in unfair collective actions in the semiconductor manufacturing machinery manufacturing industry.

According to the Fair Trade Commission's investigation, these companies colluded in bids for control and monitoring systems ordered by Samsung SDS.

In 2015, Samsung SDS changed its procurement method for control and monitoring systems from essentially a framework agreement to actual competitive bidding, aiming at cost reduction. In response, the 12 cooperating companies initiated collusion to prevent low-price orders and block the entry of new competitors.
