[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Seoul, South Korea — July 28, 2025 — Hankook Tire & Technology Co., Ltd. announced it will supply its premium electric vehicle (EV) tire, iON evo SUV, as the original equipment (OE) tire for Xiaomi’s first electric crossover SUV, the YU7.



The partnership underscores Hankook’s growing role in the global EV market, following its supply of iON tires to leading EV manufacturers such as BYD.



Xiaomi YU7: A High-Performance Electric SUV

Xiaomi’s YU7 boasts dual-motor powertrain technology with a maximum output of 680 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. Equipped with a high-capacity battery, the YU7 offers an impressive 760 km range on a single charge under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) standard.



Hankook’s EV-Specific Tire Innovation
Hankook collaborated closely with Xiaomi to develop a tire tailored for the YU7’s performance profile.

Key engineering features of the iON evo SUV include:

High-Load Tire Profile: Optimized to support the added weight of large EV batteries while evenly distributing ground pressure.

Enhanced Cornering Strength: Improved by 10% for superior handling on curves.

Aramid Hybrid Reinforced Belt: Utilizes a high-performance super-fiber to ensure high-speed stability.

Low-Temperature Curing Technology: Enhances energy efficiency by up to 6% and mileage by up to 15%, supporting long-distance EV driving.

The iON evo SUV will be supplied to the Xiaomi YU7 in two sizes (19- and 20-inch), reinforcing Hankook’s position as a global leader in EV-specific tire technology.
