[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Hanwha's global division has announced a collaboration with INEOS, the world's sixth-largest petrochemical company, to pursue the production of low-carbon ammonia.
On the 28th (local time), Hanwha revealed that they have signed a memorandum of understanding with INEOS Nitriles, an affiliate of the INEOS Group, to establish a low-carbon ammonia production facility (with an annual capacity of 1 million tons) in the United States. Both parties will jointly assess the feasibility of the project, with a final investment decision expected around 2026. If the project proceeds, commercial operation is targeted for 2030.
INEOS Nitriles is the world's largest producer of acrylonitrile (AN), a synthetic resin raw material. They currently produce 1.3 million tons of AN annually in Texas and Ohio, USA.
