[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] According to the financial sector, the terms of office for the heads of the top five banks, including KB Kookmin Bank, Shinhan Bank, Hana Bank, Woori Bank, and NH Nonghyup Bank, will all expire by the end of this year.

According to the financial sector on the 29th, the terms of all five major bank presidents, including KB Kookmin Bank President Lee Jae-keun, Shinhan Bank President Chung Sang-hyuk, Hana Bank President Lee Seung-yeol, Woori Bank President Cho Byung-kyu and Nonghyup Bank President Lee Seok-yong, will end at the end of December this year.

Lee Jae-geun has been leading Kookmin Bank for another year, being recommended exclusively as a candidate for president after completing his two-year term in November last year. Chung Sang-hyuk and Lee Seung-yeol headed the bank in March 2023 and January of the same year, respectively. Cho Byung-kyu took office in July last year and Lee Seok-yong in January last year, respectively.

While all five major bank presidents have been working to increase bank profits, enhance shareholder value and win-win financing during their tenure, analysts say that there are a lot of remaining tasks. In particular, the second half of the year is very important for Chung Sang-hyuk, Lee Seung-yeol, Cho Byung-kyu and Lee Seok-yong, who served in their first terms.
