[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] In August, 24 owners of the Mercedes-Benz EQE electric vehicle, including the owner of a car that caught fire in an underground parking lot in Incheon, filed a class-action lawsuit against Mercedes-Benz.
Attorney Ha Jong-seon (from Naroo Law Office), representing the plaintiffs, held a briefing on October 10 at the Textile Center in Gangnam. He announced that a damages lawsuit had been filed with the Seoul Central District Court against Mercedes-Benz's German headquarters, its importer Mercedes-Benz Korea, seven sales companies including Hansung Motors, and two leasing companies including Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Korea.
The initial claim for damages is set at 10 million won per plaintiff, with plans to increase it after the Korea Fair Trade Commission announces the results of its investigation into alleged false advertising by Mercedes-Benz.
