Naver Revises Dormant Account Policy for Mail Service to Cut Costs and Reduce Spam Traffic

[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Naver announced on March 30 that it will revise its dormant account policy for its email service, shifting the 기준 from overall Naver login activity to actual access to the Naver Mail service.
Under the new policy, accounts will be classified as dormant based on whether users have accessed Naver Mail specifically, rather than simply logging into the broader Naver platform. The move is aimed at reducing unnecessary data traffic caused by inactive email accounts, such as spam accumulation, and improving cost efficiency.
At the same time, the inactivity period required for dormant status will be extended from three months (90 days) to six months (180 days). Naver will also rename its existing two-stage dormant system: the first stage will now be labeled “Dormant,” while the second stage will be called “Reset.”
The criteria for account reset (previously the second dormant stage) will remain unchanged, applying to accounts that have been inactive for more than three years.
The revised policy is scheduled to take effect on May 7.
