[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Additional human remains believed to belong to a victim of the Dec. 29 Jeju Air passenger jet crash were discovered during a renewed investigation of the wreckage.
According to the bereaved families’ association of the Muan Airport Jeju Air disaster on March 5, investigators from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board, and the Jeonnam Provincial Police scientific investigation team discovered a fragment of human remains measuring about 4 centimeters while examining debris from the crash at Muan International Airport.
Authorities also recovered several personal belongings, including two mobile phones, at the scene.
The remains will be sent to the National Forensic Service for detailed analysis.
This marks the second discovery of remains during the debris reinvestigation. A previously recovered fragment found on Feb. 26 was later confirmed through forensic analysis to belong to a victim of the disaster.
