SK Siltron
[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] On April 28, the labor union of SK Siltron announced that it had held its first rally demanding transparency regarding SK Group’s ongoing discussions to sell management control of SK Siltron.
Around 40 union executives gathered at approximately 5:30 p.m. in front of SK Siltron’s Plant 1 in Imsu-dong, Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province.
A union representative told Yonhap News Agency, "We have held two meetings with the company recently, but no progress has been made. Management continues to repeat that nothing has been decided."
The union is requesting three key assurances: full disclosure of the sale process, guarantees for employment succession, and maintenance of existing working conditions. The representative added, "We are keeping all options open, including the possibility of a strike."
Concerns are also reportedly growing within the local business community regarding the potential sale.
The union has filed notices with police to hold rallies in front of SK Siltron’s Plants 1 and 3 through May 22. Starting April 30, union executives plan to take turns staging protests on a rotating schedule.
According to the union, SK Siltron's labor union represents approximately 2,500 skilled workers and operates as the company's sole in-house union.
