[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm, is set to visit South Korea to meet with Cho Joo-wan, CEO of LG Electronics. The meeting, scheduled for the afternoon of July 11th at LG Electronics' headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, aims to discuss strengthening the collaboration between Qualcomm and LG Electronics, with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI).
LG Electronics has a history of collaboration with Qualcomm, starting from its mobile business (MC Division). The partnership has since expanded to include audio products and the automotive electronics (vehicle electric and electronic equipment) business. In 2022, LG's tablet PCs were equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 680 application processor (AP), and LG's wireless earbuds, Tone Free, incorporated Qualcomm's audio solution, aptX Adaptive.
Qualcomm supplies vehicle telematics and infotainment chips to LG Electronics' Vehicle Component Solutions (VS) Division. The upcoming meeting is expected to cover a wide range of business cooperation, particularly focusing on the automotive sector and on-device AI.
