[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Korea Electric Power Corp. will push for a project to build a transmission network in Indonesia worth a total of 41 trillion won.
KEPCO announced on the 10th (local time) that President Kim Dong-cheol signed an MOU with PLN and Siemens Energy at the headquarters of Indonesia Electric Power Corporation (PLN) in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The core of this MOU is a project to install ultra-high-pressure direct current transmission (HVDC) that connects Indonesia's Java Island and Sumatra Island to the sea and land with a total extension of 20,000km. In addition to Siemens technology, KEPCO's excellent power transmission and distribution facility operation capability is added.
The total size of the project alone amounts to $ 30 billion (about 41 trillion won). The three companies will also join forces in finding new energy technology cooperation projects such as Intelligent Digital Power Plant Technology (IDPP), Automatic Meter Reading (AMI), and Substation Prevention Diagnosis System (SEDA).
