[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Suga (real name Min Yoongi), a member of the boy group BTS, is finally set to undergo an investigation into charges of drunk driving.

On the afternoon of the 21st, Seoul Newspaper reported, citing a police source, that "Suga is scheduled to appear at the police station on the 22nd to be questioned about the circumstances leading to his drunk driving."

However, it appears that Suga will not stand in front of the media and will attend the police station privately. Earlier, a police official had stated at a regular press conference on the 19th, "We are coordinating the schedule for Suga’s investigation" and "We will thoroughly investigate various suspicions and the circumstances of the drunk driving."

The police also mentioned, "We will not call him in during the weekend or nighttime" and "We cannot intentionally create a photo line. We will treat him according to the same standards as other suspects."

On the 6th of this month, Suga was stopped by police for a breathalyzer test after falling off an electric scooter near his home in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. He reportedly told the police that he had "driven briefly after drinking a beer." However, subsequent reports revealed that his blood alcohol concentration was 0.227%, which far exceeds the license revocation threshold of 0.08%. If the blood alcohol concentration exceeds 0.2%, it results in heavier penalties, with a prison sentence ranging from more than 2 years to 5 years or a fine of up to 20 million won in case of a conviction.

Suga is currently serving alternative military service as a social service worker, with his release scheduled for June next year.
