HD Korea Shipbuilding Secures $829 Million Deal for Four Container Ships

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, a mid-tier holding company under HD Hyundai, announced on the 29th that it has signed a contract with an Asian shipping company to construct four container ships.
The total value of the contract amounts to 1.0997 trillion KRW (approximately $829 million). The four container ships will be built at HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and are scheduled for delivery by November 2028.
Including this contract, HD Korea Shipbuilding has secured orders for a total of 181 vessels (including one offshore facility) worth $20.56 billion so far this year, achieving 152.2% of its annual target of $13.5 billion.
By ship type, the company has received orders for eight LNG carriers, seven LNG bunkering vessels, 62 petrochemical carriers (PC ships), 50 LPG/ammonia carriers, 28 container ships, three ethane carriers, two liquefied carbon dioxide carriers, six very large crude carriers (VLCCs), seven tankers, two car carriers (PCTCs), one floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), one offshore facility, and four specialized vessels.
