[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Kim Hee-young, Partner of SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won, Declines to Appeal Court Order to Pay 2 Billion Won in Damages to Noh So-young

On the 22nd, Kim Hee-young, director of the T&C Foundation and partner of SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won, announced that she would not appeal the court's decision ordering her to pay 2 billion won in damages to Noh So-young, director of the Art Center Nabi.

Earlier that day, the Seoul Family Court ruled in favor of Noh in her lawsuit against Kim, ordering Kim and Choi to jointly pay 2 billion won. This amount corresponds to the alimony that the appellate court had ordered Choi to pay Noh in their ongoing divorce case, meaning that Kim is also responsible for this payment.

After the ruling, Kim issued a statement saying, "I would like to apologize once again to Director Noh So-young. I sincerely express my apologies to the children who must have been heartbroken watching the adults for so many years." She added, "I humbly accept the court's decision and will not appeal. I will do my utmost to fulfill the obligations set by the court as quickly as possible."

Noh's side commented, "The pain suffered by the plaintiff and the children cannot be healed by any amount of money, but the court's recognition of significant liability affirms its commitment to protecting the importance and value of family. We are grateful for the thorough proceedings."

Choi Tae-won has not released a separate statement regarding this ruling. In the ongoing divorce lawsuit, the appellate court had previously acknowledged Choi’s responsibility for the breakdown of the marriage and ordered him to pay 2 billion won in alimony to Noh, along with the largest-ever property division of 1.3808 trillion won. The case is currently under appeal.
