[Alpha Biz= Kim Sang Jin] An Asiana Airlines flight from the Philippines to South Korea was delayed by more than 15 hours due to the captain losing his passport.
According to industry sources on Friday, the Asiana Airlines flight OZ708, scheduled to depart from Clark, Philippines, to Incheon at 1:35 AM local time, was unable to take off as planned because the captain had misplaced his passport during the pre-departure preparations. The departure time was subsequently rescheduled to 4:55 PM.
Asiana Airlines issued an apology, stating, "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to our passengers. Due to the loss of the operating crew's passport, we were unable to proceed with the flight and have decided to assign a replacement crew."
Passengers on the flight were instructed by Asiana staff to go through the re-entry process at Clark Airport after their departure was canceled, and then were transferred to a hotel provided by the airline.
