[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] SK Oceanplant announced on the 4th that it has secured a $285.5 million (approximately 390 billion KRW) contract to manufacture offshore wind substructures (jackets).
SK Oceanplant disclosed that it signed a contract with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), the world's largest green energy investment management firm, to supply jackets and jacket components for Taiwan's "Fengmiao1" project.
The Fengmiao1 project involves developing a 500MW offshore wind farm located 35km off the coast of Taichung City in western Taiwan. Construction is set to begin in 2025, with operations expected to commence in 2027.
There are expectations that this order will lead to additional orders for other offshore wind projects in Taiwan. The Taiwanese government plans to construct a total of 15GW of offshore wind farms in five phases from 2026 to 2035.
