[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] EcoPro and Hyundai Glovis have announced that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on May 30th to collaborate on the "EV Used Battery Recycling Upstream and Downstream Business and Manufacturing Logistics Automation Solution Business."
This agreement aims to leverage the strengths of both companies to expand the rapidly growing used battery recycling industry and establish a comprehensive business framework and technology for recycling.
EcoPro CNG, a subsidiary of EcoPro, is a recycling company with capabilities in both pre-processing and post-processing of used batteries. With the European Union (EU) pushing for mandatory recycling of used batteries and strengthening related policies, the global market for used battery recycling is projected by SNE Research to grow at an average annual rate of 17%, reaching $42.4 billion by 2030 and $208.9 billion (approximately KRW 263 trillion) by 2040.
To expand their battery recycling business, the two companies plan to actively utilize Hyundai Glovis's extensive logistics capabilities, which are based on a wide domestic and international network, along with EcoPro's advanced recycling technologies.
