[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] An incumbent police officer suspected of leaking information on the investigation into the late actor Lee Sun-kyun, who died while under investigation for drug administration, has been arrested by police.
According to investigators on the 22nd, the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency's anti-corruption and economic crime investigation team arrested an executive-level police officer A of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency in the morning of the previous day.
A is suspected of leaking a report on the progress of the investigation into Lee's drug case to the outside.
Mr. A is known to be working in another department not related to the drug crime investigation.
Along with the arrest of A, the police conducted a second raid on the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency, including the office of his department.
Earlier on Jan. 22, police raided several drug crime investigation offices of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency and media companies that reported relatively detailed information on Lee's investigation.
The police plan to transfer A to the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency to investigate the overall leak of investigation information and start analyzing the confiscated materials.
A police official said, "As this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot say anything."
