[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] DL E&C has climbed to 5th place in this year's construction company capability evaluation, overtaking GS E&C.

According to the results of the "2024 Construction Company Capability Evaluation" released by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport on the 31st, DL E&C secured the 5th position with a construction capability evaluation amount of 9.4921 trillion KRW.

Despite a decrease of 57.5 billion KRW compared to the previous year, DL E&C improved its ranking. GS E&C, which was previously in 5th place, saw its evaluation amount drop by 434.5 billion KRW, leading to the shift in ranking.

Last year, DL E&C was ranked 6th with an evaluation amount of 9.5496 trillion KRW, while GS E&C was 5th with 9.5901 trillion KRW. GS E&C experienced significant financial repercussions from the collapse of an apartment parking lot in Incheon last April, which led to a 500 billion KRW rework cost. This year, GS E&C’s evaluation amount decreased to 9.1556 trillion KRW.

The capability evaluation assesses construction companies based on their performance, management status, technical skills, and reputation. Annually, the results are published at the end of July, and this year’s evaluation covered 73,004 out of 85,642 construction companies nationwide.

Samsung C&T topped the list with an evaluation amount of 31.8536 trillion KRW, maintaining its position as the top company for 11 consecutive years since 2014. Hyundai Construction (17.9436 trillion KRW) ranked 2nd, and Daewoo Construction (11.7087 trillion KRW) secured 3rd place. Hyundai Engineering (9.9809 trillion KRW) retained 4th place from last year.
