The National Statistical Office estimates that the foreign population of Korea will be 5% in 20 years

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] In about 20 years, Statistics Korea predicts that more than five out of every 100 people in the country will be foreigners.
According to the National Statistical Office's estimate of domestic and foreign population from 2022 to 2042, Korea's total population is expected to fall from 5,167 million in 2022 to 4,963 million in 2042.
Among them, the proportion of Koreans decreased from 96.8% in 2022 to 94.3%.
On the other hand, foreigners are expected to net inflow to around 55,000 people every year starting this year, increasing from 3.2% in 2022 to 5.7% in 2042.
