[Alpha Biz= Kim Sangjin] An earthquake occurred in Taiwan, prompting semiconductor foundry company TSMC to evacuate its factory workers.
According to reports from Nikkei and other foreign media, a 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Tainan City in southern Taiwan this morning.
The region is home to TSMC's advanced semiconductor plants, and the company evacuated its workers due to the quake. No injuries have been reported.
Taiwan previously experienced a strong 7.2 magnitude earthquake in April last year. At that time, TSMC's plant operations were temporarily halted, and some wafers were damaged.
