[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Foreign investors bought 1.529 trillion won worth of listed stocks last month, continuing the trend of net purchases for seven consecutive months.
According to the "Trends in Foreign Securities Investment for May 2024" report released by the Financial Supervisory Service on the 9th, as of the end of May, foreign investors had a net purchase of 1.529 trillion won in listed stocks, holding a total of 791.31 trillion won. This accounts for 29.1% of the total market capitalization.
Foreign investors net bought 1.367 trillion won in the KOSPI market and 161 billion won in the KOSDAQ market.
By holding amount, the United States accounted for 315.969 trillion won, making up 39.9% of the total foreign investment.
By region, net purchases were recorded as follows: the United States with 2.449 trillion won, the United Kingdom with 1.419 trillion won, and France with 350 billion won. On the other hand, Singapore, the Cayman Islands, and the Netherlands saw net sales of 1.261 trillion won, 383 billion won, and 291 billion won, respectively.
During the same period, foreign investors had a net investment of 1.476 trillion won in listed bonds, marking two consecutive months of net investments.
