[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] LGU+ is building IDC in Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure on the 1st, LGU+ will buy real estate such as land and buildings in Paju City owned by the company to establish a new hyperscale IDC.
Hyperscale scale refers to a large data center that can accommodate more than 100,000 servers. The area of the site is about 73,712 square meters (22,298 pyeong), which is about nine soccer fields. It is 4.2 times larger than the existing hyperscale IDC Pyeongchon Mega Center (about 17,282 square meters, 5,228 pyeong) owned by LG Uplus and 9.7 times larger than the Pyeongchon 2 Center (about 7,550 square meters, 2,284 pyeong). The Paju IDC is the third hyperscale IDC of LG Uplus. When the center starts operation, LG Uplus will be the only company with hyperscale commercial IDC 3s in Korea.
Especially, LGU+ plans to grow Paju Center as a representative 'AI data center' optimized for operation and management of ultra-high-performance graphics processing unit (GPU).
