Samsung SDI is planning to build an electric vehicle battery plant exclusively for BMW in Hungary as early as this year.

According to the business community on the 10th, Samsung SDI is considering building a third plant near Hungary's first and second factories in the Göd area.

The specific investment has not been decided yet, but the industry expects it to be at least 1 trillion won.

Batteries produced at factories 1 and 2 are supplied not only to BMW but also to European automakers such as Volkswagen. BMW and Samsung SDI, which have been in partnership for 13 years, are said to be positively discussing the construction of a dedicated new plant.
