BBQ won the second trial after a damage suit filed by chicken franchise BBQ against rival bhc Chairman Park Hyun-jong was overturned. In 2013, a second trial court ruled that bhc Chairman Park Hyun-jong was responsible for the controversy over "inflating the number of stores" that erupted in the process of BBQ selling its then subsidiary bhc to U.S.-based private equity funds.

According to the industry on the 13th, the 18th Civil Affairs Department of the Seoul High Court ruled in a 7.1 billion won compensation suit filed by BBQ against Chairman Park in 2019 that "Chairman Park should compensate 2.7 billion won to BBQ." At the first trial in January 2021, the Plaintiff's claim was dismissed and BBQ lost, but this time the ruling was overturned, and BBQ partially won.


bhc plans to appeal to the Supreme Court. A bhc official said, "After receiving the ruling, we will check the contents of the ruling more clearly, such as whether we should be held responsible only for being listed as one of the registered directors, and through the Supreme Court's appeal, we will correct the wrong part in the same way as the first trial."
