However, he explained that ramen sold in the domestic market has no problem because the raw materials are different from those for export.

According to the distribution industry on the 18th, Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) disclosed 10 products that failed to pass the food clearance inspection imported from abroad the previous day, revealing that the carcinogen "ethyleneoxide" 0.075㎎/㎏ was detected in the soup in the residual pesticide test for the "shin ramen black tofu kimchi bowl."

He then said that 1,000 boxes and 1,128㎏ of residual pesticides will be returned or discarded in accordance with the regulations because they do not meet the standards for the allowance of residual pesticides under Article 15 of the Taiwan Food Safety and Hygiene Control Act.

ethyleneoxide is classified as carcinogenic to the human body by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) under the World Health Organization (WHO) and is known to be the cause of human carcinogen of "K" under the U.S. Toxic Substances Management Program.

However, Nongshim emphasized that the component detected in the product is '2-chloroethanol (2-CE)', not ethylene oxide. 2-chloroethanol is a harmful substance that can be generated as a by-product of ethylene oxide, a pesticide component, but is not classified as a carcinogen.

The Taiwanese Food and Drug Administration announced that ethylene oxide was detected in export ramen, but this is said to be due to the conversion of 2-chloroethanol detection into ethylene oxide levels.

Nongshim believes that 2-chloroethanol was produced due to the agricultural products used in the soup.
