[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Volkswagen Korea has stopped shipping all models in Korea since the 27th. It is the first time that Volkswagen Korea has stopped shipping all models since 2016 when the certification of all models was canceled due to diesel gates.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on the 30th, "We found out that the headquarters decided to suspend the release due to a problem with the reflective performance of the safety tripod embedded in the trunk of the Volkswagen vehicle." 

 

The Road Traffic Act stipulates that a safety tripod should be installed at a distance that can be checked when a car is unable to operate due to breakdown or other reasons. As a result, carmakers are releasing new cars, including safety tripods.

An official from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, "Safety tripods that have not passed the performance test are subject to recall, and if new cars are released without improvement, fines may be imposed." We are currently discussing future measures with our headquarters and are making efforts to resume shipments as soon as possible, a Volkswagen Korea official said.
