[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] LIG Nex1 has set a new milestone in the history of K Defense by exporting its mid-range surface-to-air missile systems to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In January last year, LIG Nex1 signed a contract with UAE's TTI to supply CheongungⅡ worth 2.5974 trillion won. CheongungⅡ is a key weapon system of the Korean missile defense system developed with domestic technology led by the Agency for Defense Development. Companies representing K-Defense, including LIG Nex1, Hanwha System, Hanwha Aerospace, and Kia, participated. It consists of an operational control station, a combat control station, a multifunctional radar, a launch pad, and a guided missile.

Cheongung Ⅱ has been developed under the supervision of the Agency for Defense Development since 2012 and recorded a 100% hit rate in a number of test launches, and was judged to be suitable for combat in June 2017, and mass production has been underway since 2018.
