[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Prosecutors have launched a search and seizure of more than 10 locations, including Samsung Life Insurance and Ananti Hotel headquarters, over allegations of real estate corruption.

According to the Fair Trade Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (chief prosecutor Lee Jeong-seop) on the 20th, the prosecution has sent prosecutors and investigators to seize and search about 10 places, including Samsung Life Insurance, the headquarters of the Ananti Hotel, and the residence of executives and employees of each company, on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement and breach of trust).

Prosecutors launched an investigation after receiving a report from the Financial Supervisory Service that suspicious transactions were found in the process of Ananti's sale of land and buildings in Songpa-gu, Seoul, to Samsung Life Insurance in 2009. Prosecutors suspect that less than two months after the purchase of the hotel, the former management of the Ananti Hotel resold land and buildings in Songpa-gu, Seoul to Samsung Life Insurance, making more than twice profits in collusion with all executives of Samsung Life Insurance.

Former executives of Samsung Life Insurance are known to be accused of breach of trust under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes, which caused damage to the company by buying the real estate at a high price in collusion with Ananti.

After analyzing the confiscated materials, the prosecution plans to call in those involved as suspects for questioning.
